DINING & SHOPPING
Aside from your typical quick chain stops for food, Smith County is home to a handful of local restaurants. Ebel’s Tavern is a locally owned bar and grill serving exceptional American cuisines, seafood, craft beers, fine wines and spirits. Lolly’s Cafe is everything you’d hope to expect from a true “downhome Southern cooking” experience, and Cellar 53 Winery has five acres of vineyards with more acreages being replanted with blackberries, blueberries, pears and new grape varieties.
RECREATION
Water lovers, Smith County is for you! Located around the junction of the Caney Fork River and the Cumberland River, there’s plenty of fishing, canoeing, boating, hiking, and camping to go around. The unique Cordell Hull Bridge over the Cumberland River is a sight to see, and we highly recommend checking out the Defeated Creek Campground & Day Use Area.
The Bearwaller Gap Trail is a must for anyone who loves hiking, and there are plenty of canoe rentals located in Smith County if you want to bring the family out for a fun day on the water. And of course, we’d be remiss to not mention the historic Cullum Mansion! The elegant private residence has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1983.
SCHOOLS
The mission of the Smith County School System is: To produce academically competent citizens who have the necessary career and life skills to earn an adequate living and assume the rights and responsibilities of citizenship in their community, state, and nation. There are 10 schools that make up the Smith County School System for kids in PreK-12th grade.
